Babies & Mothers
Birth is a powerful experience for both mother and baby. Even when everything goes well, the process of birth can place considerable strain on the body.
Sometimes this strain shows up later as tension, restlessness, feeding difficulties, or unsettled sleep. In many cases these are simply signs that the baby’s system is still adjusting after birth.
Gentle bodywork can support this natural process of adaptation by helping the nervous system settle and the body release residual tension.
Sessions with babies are very gentle and usually short. The work is done with light touch while the baby is held by a parent or lying comfortably nearby.
Many babies relax quickly during sessions. Others may move, stretch, or fall asleep as their system begins to settle.
Parents often notice changes such as calmer sleep, easier feeding, or a more settled baby in the days following a session.
This work may support babies experiencing:
The early period after birth is a time of profound adjustment for both mother and baby.
Supporting the mother’s nervous system can also help the baby settle more easily, as the two systems remain closely connected during the first months and years of life.
For this reason, sessions can be offered for both mother and baby — either together or separately.
In many cases it is helpful to allow the first 10–14 days after birth for natural adjustments to take place.
However, if something seems to be troubling your baby, early support can sometimes make the transition easier.
